Son of Citation Machine - This is a useful interactive tool to help create MLA, Turabian, Chicago or APA-style citations of resources. Choose your resource, then fill in the blanks and click Make Citations. Copy the result into your research paper's bibliography or citation section. This is one of many citation site, but it is easy to use and is a time saver for students.

The People section includes all people involved in and affected by the Holocaust such as victims, perpetrators, and bystanders through pictures, quotes, personal stories, and video clips. The Arts section includes commentary on the art, literature, and music of the times and provides clips of music condoned by the Nazi movement as well as music by the victims. Go to http://www.classtools.net/ You can create a countdown timer and select the music (from Hawaii 5.0 to Beethoven) - very useful for center timing, quick games, etc. You can create free educational games, activities and diagrams. You can save, print, or embed them on your website. On the first page there is a pull down menu with all of the activities. The Random Name Picker is good for random questioning and review. Type in your class list. Then click on the Fruit Machine to bring up the Jackpot. It will automatically scroll until it comes up to one of your students.  If you need to go back and edit the class list, just click on Edit Words. You can click on the icon that looks like a disk to save this page as a web page. The icon that looks like a gearshift on the lower right is the embed tool. Click on that to bring up the embed code and paste it in your website or blog. The Venn Diagram is cool because you could create it, put the list of things to sort into the Venn diagram, save it, put on your eboard or school fusion page for homework.  It could be a center, etc.  If you want to see how it is done, or see samples just click on the green question mark.  Pretty cool interactive tool!  And think - once you make these - they are saved! Check out the burger diagram generator!  It is just like your handout, but the students make it!  again you put the prompts of where to put information and they can do this!  Hit the green question mark for examples. Okay the post-in is so cool for diagramming geography, body parts, etc.  Check it out - you do have to go to the green question mark for examples to see how it is done - a little tricky! The dustbin generator is such a cool review. OMG - this site is really just too much fun!!!

Toshiba Science and Math Grant K-6- $1000 *Due Oct. 1, 2007 Grants are made for programs and activities that improve teaching and learning in science and mathematics. The foundation focuses its grant making on inquiry-based projects designed by individual teachers, and small teams of teachers, for use in their own classrooms.	Greenworks Grant  - $1000-$5000  *Due October 30, 2007.  GreenWorks! is PLT's service-learning program that engages PLT educators and their students with their local community in "learning-by-doing" neighborhood improvement projects. Kids in Need Grant *Deadline September 30, 2007 The purpose of these grants is to provide funds for classroom teachers who have innovative, meritorious ideas. Projects may qualify for funding if they makes creative use of common teaching aids, approaches the curriculum from an imaginative angle, or tie nontraditional concepts together for the purpose of illustrating commonalities. Innovation and merit account for 40 percent of the evaluation.	My Hometown Helper - General Mills Grant - $up to $15,000 *Due September 30th, 2007.  My Hometown Helper helps local groups make a difference in their own community. Imagine seeding a community garden, putting a new scoreboard up at the local high school baseball field, or restocking a small town library with new/additional books. Interested applicants can apply online for a one-time grant from $500 to $15,000 to help fund a project.
NCTM K-2 Teach Math Through Music Grant - $3000 *Deadline November 2, 2007. The purpose of this grant is to incorporate music into the elementary school classroom to help young students learn mathematics. For 2008–2009, grants with a maximum of $3,000 each will be awarded to persons currently teaching mathematics in grades K–2 level.	NCTM K-8 Improving Student Understanding of Geometry- $3000 *Deadline November 2, 2007.The purpose of this grant is to develop activities that will enable students to better appreciate and understand some aspect of geometry that is consistent with the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics of NCTM. For 2008–2009, grants with a maximum of $3,000 each will be awarded to persons currently teaching full time at the grades K–8 level.

RESOURCES http://larryferlazzo.com/index.html This excellent site, maintained by California literacy teacher Larry Ferlazzo contains an extensive list of resources, as well as a blog with daily news and updates. When you land on the homepage, click on "English" and you'll see nine categories of ELL materials (including science, geography and world history). That's a good starting point.	Repeat After Us.  This site is a collection of copyright-free audio texts that include nursery rhymes, famous quotes, poetry and other literature from many time periods and cultures. Some 1,100 of the more than 6,000 texts offer audio readings. The site was originally designed to help English language learners, as users can hear as well as see the texts.
